FULL FESTIVAL DISTRIBUTION SERVICE FOR SHORT FILMS
CUT-UP offers precisely targeted and personalized strategies, submission services, and festival consulting for short films.
We evaluate every film as an individual and unique work, no matter if live-action, animation or documentary. Supported by an innovative matching algorithm, we will choose the best suited festivals for your film, from A-list to genre-festivals.
Only two years young, CUT-UP already has an impressive list of achievements. We helped shorts get screened and awarded at prestigious film festivals including: Cannes, Locarno, Toronto, Berlinale, Screamfest LA, Palm Springs, Zlín, Clermont-Ferrand, Short Shorts Tokyo, Anima Mundi, sxsw, Tampere, and DOK Leipzig. We are also consulting BAFTA winners, Student Oscar finalists and Oscar nominees.
Our service is affordable for everyone! Send us an e-mail with your screener link, submission history, and few words about your festival goals. We will watch your film and get back to you with suggestions on possible strategies and budget options.
Live-action, animation, documentary or mockumentary, student films, low budget films or big productions... we support films at any stage in their festival career. We are happy to receive rough cuts, and target good premiere festivals! We have also had quite some success in placing films which are older than one year, or already online. We love genre films: children/coming of age, social or environmental issues, fantasy, etc.
Our database contains more than 1,600 selected festivals from all over the world, from A-list to smaller to genre festivals. We are constantly researching and reviewing festivals. We only integrate festivals into our database that we regard as worth submitting to! Our database is updated and extended on a daily basis. CUT-UP is unaffiliated with any third parties.
An algorithm uses all your film’s information to find the best festivals for your short film that are currently open for submission. The pool of possible competitions will be ranked according to their importance for your film. Factors that we sort by include: premiere status, award qualification, content related factors and tags, production countries, nationality and gender of the director, student productions, etc., and the higher of a degree that a festival matches your film, the higher it will be ranked. Put simply, a Canadian animation film by a female director will show a completely different selection of festivals than a Swiss documentary film directed by a male student.
Based on these matching results and our years of experience, our team discusses and chooses the final festival selection for your film.
We use all major submission platforms, or submit direct to the festivals if requested so. Some platforms or festivals grant us discounted fees, which we share with you. We will never miss a deadline! Our tool is very clever and reminds us in advance if deadlines are approaching.
ACCEPTED AT A FESTIVAL
In case of a festival nomination we will inform you as soon as possible. We will communicate with the festival and send all the files and documents needed for the catalogue or the press relations, as well as the requested film file for the screening. We will also forward any information to you regarding the screening and an invitation.
If your film was selected by a festival before you joined CUT-UP, you can forward us the notification and we can take care of it from there. Also keep is updated if you get awareded! By the way: we do not ask for a share of your prize money.
